Oh I envy you your visit to Pere Lachaise. I've never been. It's a 'to do' one of thse days. How could I have missed it in all the times I've been to Paris? Love the shots, both of them, particular the first tho. Adore what age has done to this cross.
Le Père Lachaise is just 10 minutes walk from my home. Beautiful pictures Virginia ! (for the French it is cimetière with a "i" after ce "c" too close to the English word, I make the same mistake in the other way ...)
Mar, 20 year old??? I felt like an 80year old! You and I weren't QUITE recovered from our stomach bug but we were troopers! PL was a lovely place. We must go back together on a sunny day. It was decidedly GRAY that day. And I'll wear better walking shoes for those cobblestones!
Don't know how Mary and Phil feel, but I LOVE these! I never go to Paris without spending a few hours wandering in Pere Lachaise, so thanks for a free vicarious visit today.
Merci everyone. It was a very gray, damp and cold day. Not the best day for photography but it's a beautiful peaceful place and I tried to capture it as best I could. I hope to return on a sunnier day and find some nice shadows and sunlight. V
Beautiful photos. The colors of the floral sculpture on the cross are wonderful.

ReplyDeleteI was amazed by the beauty of Père Lachaise--that a cemetery could be so beautiful, so peaceful. Your photos are wonderful, V.
