I enjoyed walking in the city at night, too, and felt so safe. I wouldn't do it here.
I love the picture of the Café de L'Arbalète. Could the guy on the right be any more of a French icon?

I was in Paris two weeks ago, and I was on my own in the evenings, and I also went out on my own in the evenings, and felt very safe indeed. There is no way I would go out in the Uk on my own at night, not even for a meal.
