Sunday Church Series - Église du Royale Val-de-Grâce

Built in the middle of the 17th century by Queen Anne of Austria, the monastery was converted into a military hospital adjoining the church after the Revolution.  This beautiful Baroque dome, designed by Jacque Lemercier.

The view from our apartment windows, the summer of 2009.  I photographed this church in every light. This was right after an afternoon shower.

If one were to judge from you and Genie, one would think there is nothing in Paris but churches and graveyards.

Nice one, Virginia. With the light on the other side of the buildings, I might have put my camera away. Good for you to see the silhouette opportunity.

The strong black silhouette against the evening sky accentuates the majesty of this grand architecture. Fabulous image.
