LE MARAIS |
Recently a decorator requested a series of doors in France for a client. As I began gathering them together for her, I realized how many I had accumulated and not shared with you. So, here you have the first in my new series,
Doors in France! I fell in love with the colors here.

You know I love doors too ! Great pictures Virginia.
The photo is very nice
Wonderful framing and details ...
I think it's an excellent idea!
Franje (from Toronto)
My computer is giving almost a purple cast to the door knocker -- nice color to contrast with the wood. This photo leaves me asking myself: What used to be in the oval space? A name plate?
Beautiful details, love this door.
I'm with Harriet...is it the ghost of an outdated door knocker or nameplate of a former resident? And what about the little metal patch? If only doors could tell their stories...
Harriet, it does have a purble cast and the door greenish. I love it!
I love how its been 'patched'
One of your best door shots V!!!
I like this shot. Boy, I sure hope this leads to other 'commissioned' work for you.
I can't see the colors, but I can tell it's not black and white.
I guess you now saved the future of your Paris blog! If you are out of ideas, there are thousands of nice doors... and door knobs!
Franje, thank you for visiting and leaving a comment.
Starman, I forgot for a minute that you were color blind!
Peter, I could bore you all to death with old doors and door knobs. Beware! ;)
Eleanor, Hope springs eternal!
I agree with all of you that this must be one of the more interesting doors with the metal work the outline of a plaque etc.
As I've just been living in the Marais for the past 4 days, I really appreciate this one. SO beautiful, V! (It's late, but tomorrow I'm looking back at your posts that I missed while I was in Paris.)
love love love the shapes in this photo. straight lines on the outside, curves within...
Gorgeous. I often wonder who has graced the entrance into these doors.
What is it about doors? Everyone always notices a beautiful door!
Now we are seeing doors as pieces of art in a living room...love it!
This one is gorgeous!!
This is very good, Virginia. The colors are a bit unexpected, the image is sharp as a tack, and the cropping or framing is successful. In Esperanto, the word for it is "unsperel," which, coincidentally, is my security word. My compliments, Ms. V.
You could almost just do "Doors in the Marais." Impossibly beautiful.
