French Stranger #70
Oh I've been holding onto these photographs since last June. It's time to start sharing. Meet Alexis. You know the name because we've window shopped
here and
here. I dropped by several times, but the shop was always closed. In June, while wandering around the Place des Vosges, I found his shop and voilà, the door was open! Alexis is a dress designer, an "over the top" dress designer. He was polite but more or less went about his (cell phone) business, after he agreed to let me photograph his shop. Later that week, while JB, Peter and Owen were getting to know the music store owner across the street, Mary and I slipped in to say, "Bonjour" to Alexis. More to come.
SECOND THOUGHTS
I announced last week that I would suspend posting on the weekends, but I've decided to go for it. I still have many to share, and Mary and I will be hopefully be returning to Paris en janvier!!

Wow!!! Love that dress!!! And the shot is wonderful V!!! Especially in B&W.
Beautiful B&W. Paris en janvier? Et bien vous pourrez faire les soldes pour vous réchauffer!
Wow, it looks like he is very good!
So, that's where you went! :-) Reminds me that I should make a post about the music shop. Have to go back, my photos were not good.
Are you going to see the Monet exhibit while you are there? I am hoping to go in January as well.
I'd have to resist the urge to put a book on his head to improve his posture. But who cares about posture if the result is a pretty concoction like this one. Hee, my wv is dande.
Great capture in b/w of the contrast between the lovely creation and the interesting creator... hummm
Love this one, V
V - I totally agree with Genie, the contrast of his plain white T versus the lacy, gauzy , glittery confection of a dress is exquisite. B&W is simply parfait!
Wow! What an interesting 'stranger.' And a gorgeous dress indeed
Alice,
Les SOLDES! I'd forgotten. Can't wait.
Peter,
See what you missed?HA My photos of the music man were OK I think. I haven't shared mine either. I'll have to do that soon. He was such a delightful man!!
Elisabeth, As much as I'd love to see the Monet exhibit, I fear that the lines are still way too long. A friend who just returned from Paris said an hour and a half wait. I don't do lines well. The Marmatton Monet has a wonderful collection of his work if you haven't been there.
Thanks everyone. I'm glad you liked this photo. He was a character for sure. Wait till you see his bracelets! :)
When I was making a purchase of 2 shawls on the Rue de l'Opera the shop owner did NOT allow me to take photos.......I was quite surprised.
Their stuff is so beautiful that I always want to remember it.
Love tulle .. and I wish I was able to go with you ..
You should show us pictures of the dresses you bought at his shop.
Starman,
I have lots more dresses but alas, I'm not in the market for tulle and bustiers anymore! :)
Daryl,
Oh we have a big time!
Roseann, I"ve only had a few say no. I"m ok with that. I just leave and take one through the window!!
What a great photo. Wouldn't you love to watch him putting this dress together!
I got to see that Harriet. Melissa caught him in the window sewing a wedding dress smoking his cigarettes! HA
That dress rocks! Black and white was a nice choice for this shot, good call. Be sure to let Karin and I know when you come, we'd love to see you!
Paul,
You know I will. Would love to me you!
Cigarettes and wedding dresses agh what a mix, he certainly looks individual!
As always, wonderful shot.
Take me with you.... I keep trying to work out how to fit Paris in asap...::le sigh::
Wonderful....happy to meet you! Cheers, Cy
V, So glad you'll be around on the weekends - spare us the withdrawals!
