Chaises vides

On this November day, I was disappointed to see that there were no pétanque players. The spectators stayed home as well. Triste.

A Little Sax in Paris

This group of musicians set up and play on the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain every day, I love to stop and listen!

Lèche-vitrine

The French phrase for window shopping is "lèche-vitirne" (to lick the window). Very fitting for the abundance of gorgeous shops that Paris offers.

Je suis fatigué

I have felt like this many times.

I will presenting a phototalk on STREET PHOTOGRAPHY for the Shades Vallely Camera Club this coming Thursday, January 17 at 6:30 PM at the Vestavia Hills Library. The club graciously opens their meetings for visitors. I hope to see many of my Birmingham readers and fellow photographers there!

Aprés l'Eglise

This sweet boy's sister was christened during the church service at l'EgliseVal- de- Grâce. I visited this beautiful church that Sunday and watched afterwards as the family gathered on the steps and allowed the big brother a chance to play.

Life on the Mètro

A violin player hopped on our Metro with his makeshift boom box strapped to cart and the obligatory cup for donations. This sweet girl asked her papa for some change to put in the cup.

Sunday Church Series - Chapelle Saint-Louis

Just a few blocks from Canal Saint Martin, we explored the Hôpital Saint Louis, built in the 17 Century as a safe place for regular patients during the plaques in Pairs that stretched the capacity of the Hôtel Dieu. The chapel sits on the grounds. We found the staff and volunteers very welcoming. The grounds around the hospital are lovely and we saw a few patients enjoying the sunny November day with family there.

Les joueurs de pétanque

I"m currently gathering street photography images for a program I'm presenting for the Shades Valley Camera Club this coming Thursday. It's been great fun combing my files. I found some very good memories of my favorite pétanque guys at the Jardin du Luxembourg.

Le petit garçon et l'iPhone

Waiting on the bus, this sweet boy was amusing himself with his mom's iPhone. I amused myself taking photographs! We see more and more Parisians with their devices in Paris now. Certainly not as much as here in the US.

Atelier des Lumières I

The highlight of our trip in November was the Atelier des Lumières featuring the work of Klimt and Hundertwasser. It's difficult to describe the experience of being in this large, former foundry building with images from 140 projectors casting these amazing images on all of the walls and the floor, all the while magnificent classical music surrounds you. The exhibit closed today but it looks like there will be more artists featured in the future.

For the next few days, I will post a few more of the images.

100 French Strangers #86 - Le bouquiniste

When strolling the streets of Paris, sometimes I stop and engage with people on the street. Other times I photograph Parisians who are oblivious to me and my camera. I really enjoy both. This day, this bouquiniste had such an engaging smile, I stopped to chat. He was happy to pose with the book he was reading en anglais ! I encourage everyone to try street photography. It enriches my travels in so many ways.

CDP Theme Day - Best of 2018

I'm skating in at the last minute with my City Daily Photo Theme Day entry. January 1 is always our favorite photo of the year. This doesn't scream Paris, but taken behind Notre Dame on a blue sky day, looking up through the autumn leaves with the sculptural dark branches is my favorite.

Other CDP bloggers have posted their entries right HERE. Go have a look.
