Paris Rouge - La Clé
This key shop on rue Mouffetard always makes me smile. I love that big red key overhead. Locks are very important in Paris I've learned. Apartments have formidable locks and learning how to make them work has caused me many panicky moments.
Just a reminder that my photograph graces the cover of Juliet Blackwell's new novel, The Paris Key!

Sunday Church Series - Basilique Cathèdrale de Saint Denis
This beautiful medieval abbey church, built in the Gothic style is often called the today "royal necropolis of France", as it was the burial place for the kings and their families for centuries. Located in the northern suburb of Saint Denis, it is a Metro ride and the stop if near the church. I highly recommend if you have the time in your stay in Paris for a short side trip.

Art Appreciation
My granddaughter Eva, first saw Young Woman in a Floral Hat, at the Musée Rodin on our first trip in 2007 when she was just 5 years old. Two years later, she spotted it and remembered! It's never too early to share art with children.
Note that the Rodin has been closed for renovations and will reopen November 12. It is one of my favorite museums in Paris and I have visited 3 times.

View From Above - Centre Pompidou
I will admit that the Centre Pompidou is not at the top of my To Do list every trip but I did see a wonderful Mondrian exhibit there a few years ago. That said, it is something you really must see, even if you don't opt to attend an exhibit. You can take the cool exterior escalator to the top and get a really nice view of Paris from above. You might even choose to go in the evening and have a drink or dinner at the top floor restaurant George.

You will thank me one day of this tip. Today, Canal Saint Martin. So fabulous.

Après Déjeuner
My first day in Paris and my dear friend Keri took me on a jaunt from her apartment on Île St. Louis to Luxembourg Gardens. (I was working off of an adrenaline rush) La Cuisine de Phillippe proved to be well worth the walk in the rain. This man, talking to the owner, fascinated me.

Annick Goutal
How do I love thee! Her shops across Paris are an "experience". I dream of a bottle of her la violette fragrance. This was taken just off rue St. Honoré, on 14 Rue de Castiglione, 75001 Paris.

Le photographe
While my friends were having a look inside Saint Sulpice, I wandered around the fountain people watching and photographing. I spotted this interesting man doing the same thing! He was intently watching an artist painting some art fair scenery nearby. I snapped this one before he noticed me. I then told him in broken French and sign language that he had a wonderful face. I got a smile. I'll share that shot one day soon.

Un moment calme
It's not often you get a few quiet moments at the lovely la Fountaine des Medicis at Jardin du Luxembourg During low tourist season, it's a delightful place to sit and read or just rest and enjoy.

Le reflet
Not that I love them you understand, but the big motorcycles parked along all of the Paris streets do offer some fine reflections from time to time.
Today I join James' Weekend Reflections. I love this group. It is probably the only one I join now, but not on a regular basis as I forget. Pardon!

Àprés-midi à Jardins du Luxembourg
Sunday is my favorite day, sure you get a lot of tourists, but you also get Parisians who flock there to enjoy the day in this beautiful place. Older couples nicely dressed making their way slowly, parents with children, toting bikes, trikes and scooters, and young couples publicly sharing their affections. Off the beaten paths, you will find chess and card players, pétanque games, as well as the favorite Parisian pastime of just sitting quietly and reading.

Pinch Me
Never in my wildest dreams, when I fell in love with Paris and photography in 2007, did I ever imagine that one day I would have one of my images on a book cover, much less a book published by Penguin Random House, set in Paris! Last week Juliet Blackwell's newest novel, The Paris Key, arrived at my doorstep with this lovely note. I started reading it immediately and was struck by so many wonderful serendipitous events that I had to share with Juliet. The story, set in the Marais at Village St. Paul is just a few blocks from an apartment I rented in the 2010. While there, I photographed a lovely man who had KEY shop and had written a book about antique KEYS! I hope all of my friends who love Paris will order this book, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am.
